10 Makeup Items I’m Transitioning from Summer to Fall

Ah summer, my favorite time of year! I am a lover of the sun, don’t mind it being sweltering hot, and love a good dip in the pool, yes I’m a summer girl through and through! When it comes to summer makeup I love a lighter coverage so my freckles show through, but also want a bronzed glow! I’m naturally pale in complexion so a good bronzer is always at the top of my list, and wouldn’t you know there’s one on this list too! But I realized that while I love to look that way in the summertime there are a lot of my summer staples that I can easily transition into fall. Here’s some of my must-have products that were perfect for summer but have easily made it into my fall makeup routine:

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer – This has been my go-to everyday foundation ever since I purchased it in the spring! I’ve heard people say it’s full coverage but I find it to be more of a medium coverage, as my freckles still show through. It’s lightweight, has a nice somewhat powdery matte finish and lasts all day. It’s oil-free, and works fabulously on my normal to dry skin. I’m in the shade 0.5 Breeze – the lightest shade they make!

Beauty Blender – My absolute FAVORITE way to apply foundation, but especially the Clinique Foundation. When you make the sponge a little damp it results in the most even application with no streaks and really makes the skin look flawless. It’s wonderful because it doesn’t soak up a ton of product but if there’s too much product it will even it out – win! I apply both my foundation and concealer with this as well as my setting powder, which I’ll talk about in a bit!

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer – SUCH a great concealer! It’s very lightweight and blends out like a dream. I wouldn’t say it is the most full coverage concealer I’ve ever used but it’s perfect for those no makeup makeup looks or when I’m not using foundation. I love it so much I need to buy a new one! Mine is in shade Fair Neutral.

Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop – The love for this product is real! Not only am I obsessed with Jaclyn Hill (this is her collab with Becca Cosmetics), but I have become SUCH a fan of Becca’s products. This golden, peachy highlighter is amazing on so many skin tones and perfect for that desirable glow. During the summer I apply a whole lot of glow to all the high points on my face but for fall I prefer a more subtle matte look so just a little on the top of the cheeks is how I’m wearing it this season.

Sigma F-20 Large Powder Brush – This fluffy brush is my absolute favorite way to apply bronzer. It’s large enough to cover a lot of your face and neck but precise enough that you can really get in the hollows of your cheeks for a subtle contour. If you’re looking for a good bronzing brush check this one out!

L’Oreal Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara – Not going to lie here when I first tried this mascara I didn’t like it one bit! But after using it a couple more times and figuring out the best way to apply it, it has been what’s been on my eyelashes all summer into fall. It can go on pretty thick and clumpy so light coats are the best way to apply this, and if you build it up it will make your lashes oh so long! It’s not necessarily a volumizing mascara but it lengthens and separates your lashes like no other! If you’re worried about it transferring they do make it in a waterproof formula, but I have not had any problems with it coming off with the original formula.

Benefit Cheekathon Blush + Bronzer Palette – Wherever I go this palette has come with me! Whether it be on trips, overnights, or to the gym this little guy has come in handy! It has Hoola Bronzer (my all time favorite bronzer) along with four other Benefit blushes: Dandelion, Rockateur, Dallas, and Coralista. I tend to shy away from the more summery colors like Dandelion and Coralista now, so I’ve been opting for the either Dallas or Rockateur, and sometime a combo of both! The fact that you can get so many looks with one palette and you get five full sized products makes it well worth the $58 price in my opinion. I believe this is limited edition so if you want it make sure you pick it up soon!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz – I have re-fallen in love with my brow wiz, especially since I’ve gotten a new shade that better matches my brows. I have the shade Chocolate which has a reddish tint to it so it works well with my red hair, so if you’re a red head and looking for a good brow shade try Chocolate! This product is creamy enough that it blends out well with a spooley but not so creamy that it will slide all over. Perfect for filling in sparse brows, adding definition, as well just darkening them up a bit.

MAC Eyeshadow in Saddle – Surprisingly enough I don’t use this for eyes, I use it for my brows! I love using this shadow to set my brows after using my ABH Brow Wiz. This color matches my hair absolutely perfectly. If you have trouble finding a good brow powder try an eyeshadow that is similar to your hair/brow color and it will last you forever! I have had this shadow for far longer than I think I should admit but it works wonderfully with or without a pencil underneath!

Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder – I’ve just recently started using this setting powder within the last couple months or so and it has been AMAZING for my under eyes and baking under my contour line. It doesn’t look cakey and most importantly doesn’t leave a white cast like so many powders can in pictures. It melts into the skin and is great for setting the entire face and keeps your foundation on all day long.
